FAQ
What is FORMADRAIN?
FORMADRAIN® is a steam-cured, pulled- or pushed-in-place, fiberglass and epoxy no-dig pipe repair system. Without any excavation, it can perform lateral repairs, lateral-main-connection (LMC®) repairs, spot repairs, and process piping repairs.
Do I need different resins depending on the temperature?
No. Our approach does not rely on ambient temperatures, which can be complicated to manage. We supply the precise amount of heat the resin need.
If I run out of steam, can the liner still be cured?
Yes, but it would take over 4 hours. Plan for enough steam!
What about freezing cold weather? Do your resins hold up?
Our steam-cured solutions provide the heat you need in below-freezing temperatures. Check out our case study on how we carried out work in -50°C (-58°F) weather in Canada’s Great White North!
Can I work with your liners in hot weather?
Yes! Because our liners are steam cured, the pot life is a tad shorter but plenty enough for most jobs.
What are the working times for your resins?
The Formapox 101 and 301 are 4 hours. Durapox and Durapox 501 are specially formulated to last 60 days in ambient conditions.
Isn’t FORMADRAIN a foundation drain solution?
No. FORMADRAIN® is a no-dig pipe repair system. The foundation solution goes under “Form-A-Drain” and is a product by BuildBlock Building Systems.
What sizes can FORMADRAIN repair?
It can repair circular pipes from 2 to 48 inches (50 to 1,200 mm) in diameter.
Does an access pit need to be dug up?
No. For a 4- to 6-inch (100 mm to 150 mm) transition, a 3-inch (75 mm) cleanout is enough for us to make the repair.
Does the pipe need to be clean?
Yes. Since it’s a pulled-in-place (or pushed-in-place) liner that we put inside the new pipe, anything that was there will stay trapped between the liner and the host pipe forever (e.g., rocks, roots, grease).
