FORMADRAIN Liners Give You the Flexibility You Need
Sewer pipes are not always straight, regularly shaped, and a uniform size which presented some challenges with older lining technologies. With FORMADRAIN liners, problems with changes in diameter, bends, elbows, and lateral-to-main connections are a thing of the past.
Easy Multi-Diameter Transitions and Offsets
FORMADRAIN liners are made of bi-directionally woven fibreglass impregnated with a proprietary epoxy resin. Because a FORMADRAIN liner is not a tube, it easily conforms to different sizes and shapes.
This allows you to line perfectly a pipe that transitions in diameter in up to 2-inch (50 mm) increments such as from 4 inches (100 mm) to 6 inches (150 mm), 6 inches (150 mm) to 8 inches (200 mm), 8 inches (200 mm) to 10 inches (250 mm), etc. Many 4-to-6-inch (100-150 mm) transitions are found in house laterals, where a 4-inch (100 mm) cast iron pipe will fall into a 6-inch (150 mm) clay, cast iron, no-corrode (Orangeburg), or cement pipe.
This means that you can line a pipe without the need for precision measuring and extensive stitching. That is a huge advantage since bonding to the pipe is critical to mechanical resistance.
FORMADRAIN liners will also conform better to certain offsets. Pipes are built in sections and can move over time. Open joints can be the cause of root intrusion. These offsets can be a challenge to line in a perfectly round repair since a tube has a predetermined size and the offset causes a restriction in pipe diameter. FORMADRAIN liners will conform to these smoothly and seamlessly.
Elbows
Lining through a bend can seem like a hard thing to do. Standard FORMADRAIN liner can go through bends of up to 45 degrees. A specially designed bladder and materials can accommodate 90° elbows.
Most tubes will leave a lip in the inner portion of the elbow’s radius, because they have a predetermined size and excess material has nowhere else to go. FORMADRAIN’s specially designed fibreglass will conform to these, leaving no bad lip or excess material, all with the same thickness and strength the standard product offers.
Lateral-Main Connections, Y’s and Tees
Lateral-Main-Connections® (LMC®) are a must in today’s lining business. Many contractors and municipalities require this technology.
With the same system, just different materials, a T or Y connection can be made with the FORMADRAIN LMC.
Using the same resin and fibreglass that’s proven, still steam cured, we can line a connection that features a “full main wrap”, providing a watertight liner with the structural integrity it needs. Sizes may vary from a 6’’ (150 mm) main combined with a 4’’ (100 mm) lateral, up to a 24’’ (600 mm) main combined with an 8’’ (200 mm) lateral.
Pulled-in-place with the help of three access points, it requires no excavation at all. Everything is made through existing cleanouts and manholes.
