FORMADRAIN delivers a 90% cost cut for Université de Montréal’s complex drainage project
The Université de Montréal’s Roger-Gaudry pavilion required difficult rehabilitation of a drainage line in elevator shaft #15 of wing I. Although this was a seemingly minor project, the complexity of the work demanded specialized expertise. FORMADRAIN’s innovative technology and experienced team were selected for the job—with impressive results.
The challenge: a problem in a tight space with a hefty price tag
The initial project plan projected a cost of $150,000 due to the difficulty of replacing a badly clogged and deteriorating 3″ drainage line.
The drainage line’s location in an elevator shaft and the extent of blockage made the project even tougher, potentially disrupting building operations and daily activities.
The solution: a game-changing fix at a fraction of the cost
FORMADRAIN approached the project with its proprietary trenchless technology, Formapox 101 fiberglass and epoxy composite cured-in-place pipe (CIPP), which allowed the team to clear and reline the drain without interrupting excavation.
FORMADRAIN’s 100% no-dig CIPP overlap lining system guarantees no folds or wrinkles, providing a smooth surface despite inside diameters varying between approximately 2.7″ and 2.8″.
The result: FORMADRAIN delivers beyond expectations
After thoroughly cleaning the pipe with state-of-the-art tools, FORMADRAIN experts installed the liner, giving the drain a second life. This slashed the original estimated costs for completely swapping the drain for a new one by 90%.
FORMADRAIN turned what could have been an expensive and intrusive project into a straightforward, affordable solution!
